Yep, the title it is a bit of a word game, I know… but back to the topic
We (here on the Balkans) have the horrible mental habit to shallowly hate each other. The reasons – fanatic parents who talk too much, fanatic community that talks too much, fanatic TV policy. Add this up in all the years of the near past and you have it in store for the future DNA of almost everybody from the region.
The solutions are two.
1) We, the proud and stubborn Balkanians, should travel a lot around our neighbors without expectations or fixed ideas. Thus we get to learn easier. And when we learn we accept, instead of hate.
2) Every Balkanian should fall in love at least once in their life with someone from another Balkan country. The whole process makes people more perceptive and objective.
The ironic part is I reached conclusion#2 some 2,5 hrs before I had a horrible fight with my Romanian friend, who I thought of as one of my best friends. Thus the idea of cooperation and mutual love-blah-blah stood hand in hand with the practice of confrontation and destructive conflict. But I guess I am forgiven that behavioristic contrast since I am a product of such a wierd and paradoxical place
